First session was a mixed bag at West Ham. Collison went on for 20m, replaced by loads of cheap crap. Carlton Cole played well when not injured, and Dean Ashton has returned to fitness at last.

Not going very well in the league, but a strong start in the League Cup takes West Ham through to the 4th Round.

7 Games in and 5 League games have been lost, winning the other 2.
Top signings in the transfer window of Summer 2009:

Beckham 475k
Petrov 2.6m

A reasonable first start to the season for Wigan. The transfer window was fairly quiet with the only activity being the departure of Erik Edman to Wolves for £2.5m which helped fund the £3.8m deadline day purchase of Paraguayan Salvador Cabañas from Club America. Further transfer funds will be raised from the sale of Cho Won-Hee who will join Club America in a £2.5m deal in December.

On the pitch the season started with a disasterous 2-1 home defeat to newly promoted Wolves but after that the only other defeat was a 3-0 reverse against Man City at the DW. The only wins were against the other promotees, Birmingham and Burnley but Wigan also earned creditable draws at home to Chelsea and away at Tottenham and Everton to finish the session in 10th position.

In the cup Wigan made good progress beating a lower division team and then Middlesbrough away to set up a 4th round tie against Arsenal at the DW.

A superb session for Wigan tonight finishing the year in 8th position in the league after 9 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats. The only really disappointing result was a 1-0 home defeat against bottom placed Hull with the only other defeats coming against Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal which were all to be expected. Apart from 3-3 draws against both West Ham and Everton at the DW (the Everton game was disappointing as I came back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 only to concede an equaliser in injury time) every other league match was won.

In the League Cup the team were knocked out by Arsenal but remain in the FA Cup after a 3rd round win against Watford.

The star player has been Jason Scotland with an amazing 19 goals in 25 games

Session results:

Wigan 1 - 0 Burnley
Stoke 2 - 3 Wigan
Wigan 0 - 2 Liverpool
Wigan 3 - 3 West Ham
Wigan 1 - 2 Arsenal (League Cup)
Bolton 2 - 3 Wigan
Fulham 0 - 1 Wigan
Wigan 1 - 0 Aston Villa
Man Utd 3 - 0 Wigan
Wigan 1 - 4 Arsenal
Wigan 3 - 0 Portsmouth
Blackburn 0 - 1 Wigan
Sunderland 0 - 3 Wigan
Wigan 0 - 1 Hull
Wolves 0 - 1 Wigan
Wigan 3 - 3 Everton
Watford 0 - 1 Wigan (FA Cup)
